Liberty County, GA : Victim of Liberty County crash identified on Monday October 26 2015
Georgia State Patrol is investigating after a deadly wreck in Liberty County took place on Monday night.
It happened around 7 p.m. at Leroy Coffer Highway and Luke Road. It was a single-vehicle accident.
Troopers say 20-year-old Chancy Hart lost control of her vehicle. The car ran off the road and into a tree before catching fire.
Hart was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the only person in the vehicle, but a puppy who was also inside – survived the accident. Someone who passed by the scene was able to rescue the dog from the car.
Hart was married to a soldier who is assigned to Hunter Army Airfield. He was training in Indiana, and was notified of the accident Tuesday morning. Hart was in possession of a Connecticut license.
At this point, GSP is still working to find the exact cause of the accident.
We’re looking at several factors right now. Our biggest factor right now, we believe, is the speed of the vehicle. Traveling excess of the speed limit caused the vehicle – or the driver – to lose control of the vehicle,” said Sgt. Eric Wilkes, GSP.
The puppy was handed over to animal control, and is awaiting to be picked up by the husband or family members.
