A 12-year-old boy riding a motorized dirt bike was killed in a crash with a pickup truck Friday afternoon.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Department said the boy was crossing County Highway NN in the town of Rubicon, near Neosho, on when the crash occurred.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, the Sheriff's Department said.

The 34-year-old male driver of the truck was not injured.

The identities of the two people will be released Monday.
