Yalaha, FL : Elderly woman killed in Lake County crash with fertilizer truck on Wednesday morning, February 1, 2017
An 87-year-old Leesburg woman was killed this morning after colliding with a truck hauling fertilizer in the small Lake County community of Yalaha, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The victim was not immediately identified pending notification of relatives.
Driving a 2007 Lincoln, the elderly woman was eastbound on County Road 48 and crossed the double yellow line on a curve at Lime Avenue about 7:40 a.m., the FHP said. The Lincoln struck a westbound truck driven by Peter Irizarry, 70, of Orlando, according to the FHP. He was not injured.
The accident occurred about two miles north of Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills.
