CHELMSFORD, MA : Man suffers life-threatening injuries in Chelmsford crash on Route 3 on Tuesday, 25th February, 2020

An 82-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries following a motor vehicle crash on Route 3 around 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, authorities say.
The man was flown by MedFlight helicopter to a Boston-area hospital, according to State Police Trooper James DeAngelis. The identity of the man was not immediately available.
The 82-year-old was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion on Route 3 North, just north of the exit for Interstate 495, at the time of the crash, DeAngelis said.
The State Police Collision Reconstruction and Crime Scene units were called to the scene to investigate the wreck. The cause remained under investigation as of Tuesday night.
Emergency crews closed Route 3 North to traffic from the time of the crash until approximately 2:30 p.m. The far-right lane remained closed until approximately 6:15 p.m., DeAngelis said.
