Britt, MN : Cook man killed in ATV crash in St. Louis County on Sunday, May 8, 2016
A 24-year-old Cook man was killed and another man injured when they lost control of their ATV while they were entering a curve in the road late Sunday in Britt.
Jason Triska was located underneath the ATV, which had overturned during the crash on the 7800 block of Forest Road 257. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office in a news release Monday.
Donald Roderick, 23, of Cook, was ejected from the ATV and transported by ambulance to the Essentia Health-Virginia Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said the news release.
The crash occurred at 11:05 p.m., and alcohol is believed to be a factor, said the news release. No helmets were worn at the time of the crash.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said an initial report of the crash had Triska operating the ATV with Roderick as a passenger. The crash remains under investigation. The St. Louis County Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
