CHARLOTTE, NC : A person was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in south Charlotte on Sunday, August 20, 2017

A person was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in south Charlotte Sunday afternoon.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, a hit-and-run occurred involving a pedestrian in the 5300 block of Monroe Road around 3:30 p.m.

A Chevy Malibu was found overturned on North Sharon Amity at Monroe Road, which is less than a mile from where the pedestrian was struck, officers said.

Police said a second vehicle, a Cadillac Seville, was also involved in the incident. Cops were on scene searching through the Cadillac. Officers did not say which vehicle is believed to have struck the pedestrian.

MEDIC said the victim was taken to Novant Presbyterian with serious injuries.

Monroe Road at North Sharon Amity was shut down for some time following the crash.
