LOUISVILLE, KY : KSP troopers hurt working at interstate crash scene, driver dies in collision on Tuesday, 16th February 2021
Two Kentucky State Police troopers investigating an accident on Interstate 65 have been injured while they worked to clear the scene.
KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green says the were hit on I-65 near exit 58 north of Horse Cave in Hart County around 8 a.m. (Central time) Tuesday. At last report, all lanes were blocked in both directions.
Further investigation by KSP stated the officers had responded to a semi that was blocking two of the three lanes on I-65. The troopers were parked with emergency equipment activated behind a tow truck moving the vehicle.
Around 8 a.m., a Volvo was driving in the center lane when the driver lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle then struck both of the officers’ cruisers, the tow truck and the semi it was moving, as well as another semi in the far right lane.
The driver, identified as Maninder Singh, 23, from Richmond, was pronounced dead by the Hart County Coroner.
