NEWPORT NEWS, VA : Alleged DUI driver arrested after striking VSP trooper on Saturday, 20th April 2024

A Virginia State Police (VSP) trooper was struck by a speeding vehicle heading the wrong way on Interstate 64 in Newport News early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Following multiple reports, troopers responded to the interstate near Oyster Point Road at around 3:45 a.m. where they found a driver, later identified as 26-year-old Elijah Jones, heading west in the eastbound lanes.
