Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a Georgia woman died and two people were hurt when two cars collided on I-85 in Oconee County Monday.
The crash happened near mile marker 3 just before 6:30 a.m.
Troopers said a man and woman from Chamblee, GA were headed south on I-85 when the driver lost control of the car and ran off the road.
The car crashed through the cable barrier and into the northbound lane, where it was struck in the passenger side by an oncoming Toyota.
Troopers said the 48-year-old woman died at the scene and had to be mechanically extracted from the passenger side of the car. The drivers of both vehicles were also hospitalized.
Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
The coroner later identified the victim as Lam Le. Le was traveling inside a vehicle that her husband was driving. His condition is unknown.
