Springfield, IL : Pregnant shoplifting suspect involved in crash on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016

A 25-year-old pregnant woman who allegedly shoplifted items from Best Buy was involved in a four-vehicle accident Saturday at Veterans Parkway and Lindbergh Boulevard.The woman, who was 27 weeks pregnant, was taken to Memorial Medical Center where the baby was delivered, Springfield police said.

The name of the woman, her condition and the condition of the newborn were not immediately available Saturday evening.

Police were called to the store at 3193 S. Veterans Parkway a little after 10:30 a.m. Before they arrived, they learned that the woman had left the store and had reportedly been seen throwing items from her vehicle as she drove.

A short time later, the woman was involved in the four-vehicle crash.

Springfield police said two other people suffered minor injuries in the accident.
