Aurora, CO : Ten injured in SUV crash in Aurora Friday on July 4, 2014
Authorities say 10 people, including several children, were hurt when the SUV they were in crashed on Interstate 225 in Aurora.
Police spokesman Jeff Turner says a Suburban crammed with 11 people was headed north on the interstate when the driver swerved in an apparent attempt to exit at Iliff Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. Friday. The vehicle hit a barrier and rolled, ejecting four of the passengers.
Turner says four adults and seven children were in the SUV. Ten of them were hospitalized, and investigators think one passenger left the scene.
One child was seriously injured, but the rest suffered only minor injuries. Their names have not been released.
Turner says excessive speed and intoxication might have played a role in the crash.
