Hillsborough County ,FL : 21- Years old John Vu Lam arested caused by wrong way driving along Armenia Avenue in Tampa on Sunday early morning , April 5th 2015

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper stopped a driver going the wrong way on Armenia Avenue in Tampa early Easter morning, according to the FHP report.

Soon after midnight Sunday Trooper Hernandez-Ginarte was driving south on Armenia Avenue from southbound Interstate 275. He saw a vehicle coming straight at him. He stopped the patrol car and turned on the emergency lights trying to get the car to stop. When the white Nissan Maxima came to a full stop, Trooper Hernandez-Ginarte walked to the car and asked the driver to step outside.

The driver who smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech and watery eyes, got out of the car and said he was coming from St. Petersburg and was trying to get gas.

He had a paper copy of a driver's license on the name of John An Nguyen, didn't know his date of birth and his last name. He performed poorly in the Field Sobriety Exercise so the officers took him to the Orient Road jail.

The driver blew 0.019 twice in the breathalyzer but refused to provide a urine sample. The officers figured out that he lied about his name, they identified him as John Vu Lam, 21, of St. Petersburg who had a suspended driver's license and was on probation for controlled substance.

He was charged with DUI, wrong-way driving and fraud impersonation.
