Erlanger, KY : Motorcyclist dies from injuries in NKY crash on May 22.2014
A Fort Mitchell man died late Thursday night when his motorcycle slammed into the back of a tractor trailer on the ramp from northbound Interstate 71/75 to east I-275 in Erlanger.
Authorities pronounced Douglas Withrow, 50, dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor trailer, Waylon Miles of Georgetown, was not injured. He is employed by Dayton Freight Line.
Thomas Anderson of Cincinnati, who was driving a car involved in the crash, was also not injured.
The ramp from northbound Interstate 71/75 to east I-275 in Erlanger reopened around noon Friday after it was shut down for several hours overnight due to the fiery, fatal crash.
All three lanes of northbound I-71/75 and the ramps to I-275 were shut down just before midnight Thursday when Withrow's motorcycle slammed into the back of the semi, embedding in it.
The semi then caught on fire.
The cleanup was delayed Friday morning when some type of chemical spilled from the semi. Then, the semi re-ignited about 6:10 a.m.
Erlanger police said the investigation is ongoing.
