Ellenton,FL: Ellenton man dies in I-75 collision on November, Friday 3rd 2017
A man died in a two-car crash Friday night, near mile marker 216, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and declared dead was Thomas Ivan Baker, 46, of Ellenton.
According to reports, Tyler Steven Schroer, 24, of Bradenton was driving his Chevrolet Cobalt north on I-75, near State Road 70, in the left lane around 9:12 p.m. Baker was also traveling north, in the right lane, in his Ford Expedition. Schroer apparently attempted a lane change and struck Baker’s vehicle on the left side. Baker’s car swerved off the roadway, rolling several times before ending up on its roof. Schroer’s car came to rest facing north on the east shoulder.
Neither Schroer nor two passengers in the Baker vehicle, Hula Renee Baker, 10, and Lola Dawn Baker, 7, both of Palmetto, were injured in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
