Craig, CO : SUV struck a pickup truck in a t-bone collision on Highway 13 in Moffat County on Tuesday evening, December 8, 2015

A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and Colorado Highway 13 occurred Tuesday evening.

At about 7 p.m., a Chevy Suburban 1500 driven by Richard Buchholz, 49, of Pueblo, T-boned a Dodge Ram truck, driven by Robert Ruprecht, 38, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, in front of Loaf N’ Jug convenience store.

Buchholz was westbound on Highway 40 and Ruprecht was driving north on Highway 13 when the two hit.

The SUV received significant front-end damage, while the truck’s passenger side was caved in partially.

Ruprecht was traveling with his brothers, Gary, 56, and William, 63, with one of the siblings transported to The Memorial Hospital for evaluation and was soon released.

On the scene were Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, Craig Fire/Rescue, and TMH Emergency Medical Services, with the investigation headed by Craig Police Department.

CPD Sgt. Brian Soper said Buchholz was the party at fault, likely running a red light leading up to the accident. He suspects the motorist may have been using a cell phone or some other while behind the wheel.
