A Joliet motorcyclist was killed Monday afternoon in New Lenox Township after colliding with a Ford Expedition, officials said.

Robert McEwan, 66, of Joliet, was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m. at the Silver Cross Hospital Emergency Room, according to the Will County coroner's office.McEwan was driving a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle west on Francis Road about 3 p.m. when he struck the rear quarter panel of a 2008 Ford Expedition, driven by a New Lenox woman who was driving north on Cooper Road, according to the sheriff's office.

The woman told deputies she stopped at the stop sign on Cooper before entering the intersection and did not see the motorcycle, the sheriff's office reported. No charges have been filed.

A passerby administered CPR to McEwan, until New Lenox paramedics arrived and transported him to the hospital, according to the sheriff's office.

Francis was closed for several hours, while the sheriff's office investigated the crash.
