Orland, ME : Woman seriously injured in a head-on collision on Route 1 near Elijah Lane Wednesday, August 3, 2016
An Ellsworth woman was seriously injured and a sport utility vehicle and a pickup truck totaled in a head-on collision on Route 1 near Elijah Lane Wednesday, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Eric McLaughlin said Eileen Dunn-Kell, 58, suffered serious injuries. A LifeFlight helicopter flew her to Eastern Maine Medical Center.
A child passenger in the other vehicle suffered a foot injury and was taken by ambulance to EMMC, McLaughlin said.
The crash occurred when an eastbound 2004 Honda CRV, operated by Dunn-Kell, “swerved abruptly into oncoming traffic and collided head-on” with a truck, McLaughlin said.
The westbound truck, a 2004 Ford F150 was operated by Denise Dusoe, 64, of Swanville, the deputy said.
A hospital spokesman had no information on Dunn-Kell’s condition.
The 2:50 p.m. crash resulted in a temporary closure of Route 1 to through traffic. The Orland Fire Department provided traffic control and clean-up.
