Colonie, N.Y : Driver dies in Colonie crash on Thursday, March 16, 2017

A driver struck a telephone pole on Central Avenue near Arrow Street about 6:30 p.m. Thursday and was killed on impact, Colonie Police said.

Police said the vehicle, a 2000 Acura Integra, lost control while traveling eastbound on Central, went off the right side of the road into a snowbank, became airborne and struck the pole. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The Colonie Police Traffic Safety Unit is doing a reconstruction of the crash. Preliminary investigation shows that speed may have been a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
