One man was seriously injured in a weather-related two-vehicle crash on U.S. 63 at Highway Y in Pierce County, according to a news release from the state Department of Transportation.
The Wisconsin State Patrol and Pierce County sheriff’s office responded to the scene at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Initial investigation shows a 2006 Buick Lucerne was traveling northbound on U.S. 63 when it hit an area of blowing and drifting snow. The driver lost control, and the vehicle went into the southbound lane. The vehicle was struck by a 2014 Jeep Wrangler.
The driver of the Buick, Colton L. Ryan, 18, of Bay City, was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Jeep, Jason R. Anderson, 47, of Woodville, was wearing a seat belt and did not appear to have any injuries, the release reported.
Also responding to the crash were the Ellsworth Fire Department, Ellsworth EMS, Baldwin EMS, Pierce County Highway Department and Life Link helicopter.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which is under investigation by the State Patrol.
