ELLSWORTH, WI : One man was se­ri­ously in­jured in a weather-re­lated two-ve­hi­cle crash on Mon­day, December, 11th 2017

One man was se­ri­ously in­jured in a weather-re­lated two-ve­hi­cle crash on U.S. 63 at High­way Y in Pierce County, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease from the state Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion.

The Wis­con­sin State Pa­trol and Pierce County sher­iff’s of­fice re­sponded to the scene at 3:30 p.m. on Mon­day.

Ini­tial in­ves­ti­ga­tion shows a 2006 Buick Lucerne was trav­el­ing north­bound on U.S. 63 when it hit an area of blow­ing and drift­ing snow. The driver lost con­trol, and the ve­hi­cle went into the south­bound lane. The ve­hi­cle was struck by a 2014 Jeep Wran­gler.

The driver of the Buick, Colton L. Ryan, 18, of Bay City, was trans­ported to Re­gions Hospi­tal in St. Paul with life-threat­en­ing in­juries. He was not wear­ing a seat ­belt.

The driver of the Jeep, Ja­son R. An­der­son, 47, of Woodville, was wear­ing a seat belt and did not ap­pear to have any in­juries, the re­lease re­ported.

Also re­spond­ing to the crash were the Ellsworth Fire Depart­ment, Ellsworth EMS, Bald­win EMS, Pierce County High­way Depart­ment and Life Link he­li­copter.

Al­co­hol does not ap­pear to be a fac­tor in the crash, which is un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion by the State Pa­trol.
