Orlando, FL : Tractor-trailer driver killed in head-on wreck south of Orlando International Airport on Wednesday, February 1, 2017

The driver of a tractor-trailer was killed Wednesday after a head-on collision, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Luis Reimundia Hernandez, 44, was driving a tractor-trailer full of rocks north on Boggy Creek Road near Wetherbee Rd, just south of Orlando International Airport, about 1 p.m. when a driver crossed into his lane, highway patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Howard Schwartz, 66, crashed into Hernandez head-on, troopers said.

After the crash, Hernandez’s tractor-trailer continued moving off the side of the road and overturned, which crushed the cab portion of the vehicle, Montes said.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Schwartz was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Montes said charges are pending in the case.
