Sherman, TX : Police identify man killed in Denison wreck Tuesday , 30th August, 2016
Denison Police identified the man killed in the two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 75 as Ray Alan Watson, 53, of Pottsboro.
Mr. Watson was driving his 2000 green Mazda northbound on the highway Tuesday afternoon, and police said the vehicle slowed or stopped due to a possible traffic backup from an earlier wreck farther north. At approximately 5:08 p.m., a white Dodge Ram struck the back of the Mazda between exit 69 and FM 120.
Police said the driver of the pickup didn’t apply breaks in time to avoid a collision. The crash moved the Mazda off the roadway to the side, killing Mr. Watson. The pickup came to a stop several yards in front of the Mazda, halfway up the side hill toward the service road. One person was inside each vehicle, and police said the pickup driver appeared uninjured.
Denison police and fire departments responded to the scene, and the right northbound lane was closed. Police said the wreck remains under investigation, and it’s too early to tell whether any charges will be filed against the pickup driver.
