One person killed in a single-car crash on Highway 61
Dorchester, South Carolina
One person was killed Friday evening in a single-car wreck on Highway 61 in Dorchester County.
Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nesbit identified the victim as 26-year-old Kahlil Gibran Davis, of Ridgeville.
According to Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, say Davis was driving a 2000 Saturn sedan drove off the right side of the road and hit a tree around 6 p.m.
Troopers said Davis was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Officials said it was raining at the time.
There was also a 10-year-old passenger who was wearing a seatbelt involved in the accident, according to officials. That child was taken to Medical University Hospital.
Troopers are investigating the accident.
