Charlotte police say an argument caused a wreck that killed two people.
Police say the wreck happened about 9 p.m. Monday as two women argued before the passenger grabbed the steering wheel and guided the car into a guard rail before the vehicle overturned.
Police said the driver, 33-year-old Vanessa Annette Adams, and 6-year-old Gianni Espinoza died in the wreck.
Police said the boy's mother, 33-year-old Crystal Marie Day, has been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of child neglect.
