Skowhegan,ME : Pedestrian dies after box truck crash on September, Tuesday 12th 2017
A Maine man who was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday has died.
The Kennebec Journal reports (http://bit.ly/2wrYfA1 ) 84-year-old Charles Atwood, of Skowhegan, has died. Atwood was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after being struck in Skowhegan by a box truck driven by 67-year-old Michael Kelley, of Clinton.
Police say Clinton was travelling on U.S. Route 201 around 6 a.m. when he swerved to avoid striking Atwood as he walked across the road. Investigators say the truck’s passenger side struck Atwood before the vehicle hit a car in oncoming traffic.
Kelley was treated for minor injuries and released. The driver of the car, 36-year-old Aaron Norton, was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Authorities say the Madison man remains in critical condition.
