Port Allen, LA :Police release name of victim in fatal I-10 crash in Port Allen on Friday, July 3rd 2015

Louisiana State Police reported at least one person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning.The wreck happened on I-10 West at LA 415 in Port Allen around 8 a.m.Police say that 66-year-old Yvonne Gooch, of Kenner, died from injuries sustained in the crash. The investigation showed that a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Antonio Zapata, of New Orleans, was traveling eastbound on I-10 and blew out a tire while crossing the LA 415 Overpass. Zapata lost control and veered into the westbound lanes of I-10, striking Gooch's vehicle.Zapata sustained minor injuries as did his six passengers. Zapata and his passengers were transported to an area hospital. Impairment is not expected to be a factor in the crash.Upon release from the hospital, Zapata will be booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail on negligent homicide, careless operation, child restraint violations and no insurance charges. The crash shut down the right lane and exit ramp on I-10 West at LA 415. It led to backups in both directions of I-10. All lanes were reopened just before 10 a.m.
