Waco, TX : 26-year-old motorcyclist injured in crash in Robinson early Thursday morning, March 30, 2017
A 26-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a sedan near Robinson Drive and Baker Road in Robinson early Thursday morning, Robinson Police Chief Rusty Smith said.
Emergency responders were called to the intersection at 6:20 a.m. after a southbound sedan, driven by a 78-year-old Waco woman, attempted to make a turn on Baker Road from a turn lane. As she began her turn, she struck the motorcyclist, who was traveling north on Robinson Drive, Smith said.
The man was thrown off the motorcycle. Witnesses told police that the motorcyclist appeared to be speeding before the collision, Smith said.
The motorcyclist was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center with serious injuries. Smith said the man was wearing a helmet, but he suffered serious injuries to his leg.
The woman was not seriously injured, Smith said. Police blocked the roadway for a few hours as they reconstructed the crash and investigated the incident.
No additional information was available Thursday. Smith said the accident remains under investigation.
