A La Monte youth was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Saline County Saturday, June 3.
The incident took place at approximately 7:25 p.m. on Interstate 70 at the 66.6-mile marker, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.
The crash occurred when a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer — driven by Megan E. Braxton, 20, of La Monte — was traveling west and failed to yield to a 2016 Kenworth — driven by Fasil B. Tiku, 46, of Mountlake Terrace, Wash. — that was attempting to merge. The report stated the Trailblazer overturned and came to rest blocking the left lane. The Kenworth went into the median and struck the guard cables, with the towed unit coming unattached, overturning and blocking the left lane.
Neither of the drivers was injured, according to the report. However, a 14-year-old boy in the Trailblazer sustained moderate injuries. He was transported by air ambulance to Children’s Mercy Hospital for treatment.
