An adult and two children were transported to Vidant Medical Center following a Tuesday boating accident on the Tar River.
One child was transported by EastCare helicopter, said James McArthur, deputy director of Pitt County Emergency Management. He had no details about the group’s injuries or their ages.
According to Pitt County Emergency Communications, the incident was reported at 5:13 p.m.
Pactolus Fire & Rescue Department launched a boat from a staging area off Yankee Hall Road. At 5:30 p.m. Greenville Fire-Rescue’s Marine 1 launched from the Town Common, said Rebekah Thurston, department spokeswoman. A rescue crew from Washington also responded but did not launch, McArthur said.
The damaged boat was located about a half-mile west of Yankee Hall Road staging area, Thurston said. Greenville Fire-Rescue transferred the adult, two children and a dog from the boat and took them to the Yankee Hall Road area where EastCare, Pactolus EMS, and Eastern Pines EMS were waiting, Thurston said.
Information about their condition or what damaged the boat were not available Tuesday night.
