Mathais Township, MI : Two treated for injuries after US-41 car accident in Mathais Township on Saturday afternoon, September 6, 2014

Michigan State Police responded Saturday afternoon to a two-car collision on US-41 near M-67 in Mathais Township. A southbound vehicle driven by 68-year-old Gary Lacombe of Zionsville, Indiana had slowed his vehicle to make a left turn into a driveway and was rear ended by another southbound vehicle driven by 86-year-old Eugene Holmquist of Rapid River, Michigan. Both drivers were injured and were transported to Marquette General Hospital for treatment. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was ruled a non-factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing. Assisting the MSP at the scene were the DNR, Alger County Sheriff's Department, Trenary First Responders, Mathais Fire Department, Med One, MGH Ambulance and the Rock River Fire Department.
