Springfield, IL : Petersburg couple injured in crash on Saturday, 19th May 2018

A Petersburg couple was taken to a Springfield hospital Saturday after their Jeep struck a piece of farm equipment being pulled by a tractor on Illinois 97 south of Salisbury.

LeAnne Fricke, 55, was driving northbound on the highway near Rock Road around 10:30 p.m. when the Jeep struck a disk that was being pulled by a tractor. The tractor was driven by Stafford Worthington, 58, of Petersburg, a press release from Illinois State Police said.

LeAnne Fricke and a passenger in the Jeep, Mark Fricke, 55, were taken to a Springfield hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Worthington was cited for a slow-moving vehicle emblem violation and LeAnne Fricke was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, the state police news release said.
