Erie, PA : A Millcreek Township bicyclist was hospitalizedin a crash on Monday, June 19, 2017

A Millcreek Township bicyclist was hospitalized Monday evening when he was struck by a car in the 3000 block of West 38th Street.

Chad Klapthor was riding his bicycle west on West 38th Street when he swerved suddenly, placing him directly in the path of a car driven by Chance Nelson, Millcreek police said. Klapthor was taken to UPMC Hamot with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

Neither Nelson nor two children in her vehicle were injured. Police are calling the accident unavoidable.
