Nashville, TN : Driver dies after crashing head-on into utility polein Donelson on Wednesday night, Sep 30, 2015

A driver is dead after crashing into a utility pole in Donelson on Wednesday night.

Michael Nellums, 31, was driving his 2004 Ford Taurus on Royal Parkway toward Elm Hill Pike when he hit a curb and slammed into the pole head-on just after 9:30 p.m.

The pole is cracked and is leaning but has not fallen over.

Nellums died at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.

According to the police department, there weren't any signs of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene, but an autopsy will be performed.
