Lansing, MI : A 19-year-old motorist was killed on Monday, August 14, 2017
A 19-year-old motorist was killed when his car slammed through a construction zone on the 405 Freeway in Torrance and crashed into a parked three-axle crane truck, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.
The crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. Sunday as the victim drove his Honda north approaching Crenshaw Boulevard, CHP Officer Kyle Kovaleski said.
The Honda was in the No. 2 lane when it suddenly sideswiped a Toyota going 70 mph to its left in the No. 1 lane. The Toyota spun into the center divider, Kovaleski said.
The Honda veered across the freeway and smashed into the construction zone, where the right lane was closed. The Honda hit the crane.
The Honda’s driver was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries.
Alcohol did not appear to play a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation, Kovaleski said.
