Bullhead City,AZ : Bullhead City woman pleads not guilty to fatal crash on March, Monday 26th 2018
A Bullhead City woman pleaded not guilty Monday to charges stemming from a fatal crash last September.
Page Nichole Carleton, 24, was arraigned on a felony charge of manslaughter in the second degree and two counts of misdemeanor driving under the influence. The DUI counts involve drugs, according to court records.
Carleton’s attorney, Jacob Chavez, asked that his client remain released on her own recognizance, arguing that she has no criminal history.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney Greg McPhillips said the victim’s family wanted a bond set but agreed to her being released on her own recognizance. Two of the victim’s family members attended Monday’s arraignment. The prosecutor said there were 123 pages of evidence disclosed along with a half-dozen compact discs.
Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert allowed Carleton to be released on her own recognizance and set her next hearing for April 23. Lambert said that if Carleton is convicted of the manslaughter charge, she would face from seven to 21 years in prison.
On Sept. 24, Carleton was driving a Chevy pickup truck north on Highway 95 around 10:50 p.m. when she allegedly crossed the center lane and collided head-on with a motorcycle driven by Darryl James Tuttle, 45, of Fort Mohave, who was southbound on the highway, Bullhead City police reported.
Tuttle was thrown from his motorcycle and his bike became wedged under the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Highway 95 was closed for three hours until it reopened around 2 a.m. the next morning.
