Honolulu, HI : 72-year-old woman dies in Kalihi crash on Thursday, September 1, 2016

Honolulu police say Likelike Highway heading towards Kaneohe from School Street was closed Thursday morning due to a deadly crash.

Investigators say the two-vehicle crash happened at around 8:55 a.m. at the intersection of Likelike Highway and North School Street. They say the elderly woman driving a Honda SUV crossed over the center line and hit another vehicle on Likelike Highway.

A 72-year-old woman from Kaneohe was taken to the hospital in critical condition. She later died at the hospital, according to police. The 41-year-old woman in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police say speed, alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash. The road was reopened at around 10:40 a.m.
