Ventura, CA : Three people injured in crash on Highway 101 in Ventura on Saturday, March 19, 2016

Three people were injured when a vehicle traveling at high speeds crashed into another vehicle on Highway 101 Saturday in Ventura, officials said.

Crews responded to the crash about 7:55 p.m. at the Victoria Avenue exit on the southbound side of the freeway, according to the city of Ventura Fire Department.

A sedan traveling at speeds reported in excess of 100 mph crashed into another sedan that was trying to exit the freeway, authorities said. The speeding car was thrown into an embankment behind the back of a nearby gas station, officials said.

The driver of that vehicle was taken into custody by officers with the California Highway Patrol then taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries, authorities said.

Two people in the sedan that was hit were taken to a local hospital in stable condition with moderate injuries, officials said.
