Indianapolis, IN : Indiana State Police trooper seriously hurt in I-865 crash on Wednesday, August 30, 2017
An Indiana State Police trooper and two motorists are expected to survive their injuries after an interstate crash Wednesday on the northwest side.
Trooper Ronneal Williams, a five-year veteran, was outside his patrol car when it was rear-ended by another vehicle on eastbound I-865 about 9 a.m., ISP Sgt. John Perrine said on Twitter.
Williams had pulled over a van and was standing on the passenger side. A car veered on to the shoulder hitting Williams police car and pushing it into the van. The impact tossed Williams over a guard rail.
Williams was in serious but stable condition at St. Vincent Hospital, Perrine said. The other drivers were also treated at St. Vincent.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
