A woman died Tuesday when a car she was driving crashed into the maintenance room of a Fall River apartment building, rupturing gas lines and sparking a fire that spread throughout the building, officials said.
The vehicle, a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix with two people inside, crashed into the building at 5500 North Main St. around 9:40 a.m.The crash caused gas lines inside the apartment building to rupture, spreading gas and flames throughout the three-story building at the Four Winds Apartments, Fall River fire chief John Lynch said.
