Orlando, FL : Road near Disney's Epcot reopened 7 hours after crash on Saturday, 24th September 2016

Those heading to the most magical place on earth ran into problems Saturday.

A large traffic sign blocked a road near Disney World's Epcot for more than 7 hours after a driver crashed into a support pole, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Joemar Torregrosa Matos, 20, was driving southbound on World Drive about 2:10 p.m. when for an unknown reason he veered off the road near Epcot Center Drive, highway-patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said.

He drove his Dodge Durango into a guardrail then continued driving until it plowed into a support pole used to hold up a large metal traffic sign that stretches over the road, Montes said.

The crash caused the overhead sign to fall into the road and closed all southbound traffic on World Drive.

Matos, of Kissimmee, was taken to Celebration Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was ticketed for careless driving, Montes said.

Crews used a crane to move and repair the sign. The road was reopened shortly after 9:30 p.m.
