Kerrville, TX : 13-year-old teen dies in accident on Monday, July 24, 2017
A 13-year-old Harper boy died when he was pinned between a truck and a tree on his family’s ranch Monday night, law enforcement authorities said.
Lt. Carol Twiss, KCSO investigator, said the incident, which occurred on a family ranch in the 300 block of Lower Reservation Road, has been deemed an accident.
“He was driving down a dirt road between his dad’s house to his grandpa’s house,” she said.
The boy was between the two homes and far from both when the accident occurred, Twiss said. He was pinned between a Dodge Ram pickup and a tree.
“He was driving his father’s truck, got out and maybe didn’t get it in park all the way,” Twiss said. “We’ll never know, but he may have gotten in front of the truck to stop it from rolling.”
Kerr County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency call from the boy’s father Monday at just after 9:30 p.m.
At 9:43 p.m., first responders on scene reported they had unpinned the boy and had started CPR. At 10:04 p.m., responders reported that CPR was in progress. Later, dispatchers canceled a request for an air EMS unit.
The boy was dead when first responders arrived, Twiss said.
His identity is being withheld as of Tuesday evening, pending further notification of additional family members.
