Topeka, KS : Hesston woman falls asleep, crashes in Wabaunsee County on Thursday, 8th September 2016
A Hesston woman was injured Thursday morning when she fell asleep at the wheel and her car went airborne in Wabaunsee County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Helen Bloom, 87, was driving a 2005 Honda Civic east at I-70 and Ranch Road at about 8:45 a.m. when she fell asleep. The car entered the median and went into the air over a paved crossover, landing upright and coming to rest in the median.
Bloom was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital for injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.
