Sacramento, CA : Motorcyclist dies in head-on crash near Ramona on Thursday, February 2nd 2017
An 83-year-old motorcyclist died after being struck head-on by a car on a road west of Ramona Thursday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The rider was headed north on Highland Valley Road when he was hit by a southbound driver who crossed double yellow lines near Highland Trails Drive about 3 p.m., CHP Officer Kevin Pearlstein said. The impact from the collision threw the man from the 2017 Yamaha WR250R motorcycle, Pearlstein said. The rider died before he could be taken to a hospital. He was identified Friday by the Medical Examiner’s Office as John Henry Morgan of Poway.
The driver of the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria was not hurt.
Highland Valley Road was closed between Archie Moore Road and Bandy Canyon Road for nearly two hours while the CHP investigated the crash.
Officials said neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash.
