Columbia, SC : A mother and infant were injured after two vehicle collision at St. Andrews Road and Tram Road On Saturday, July 23rd, 2016
An Irmo fire truck and car collided early Saturday evening sending a mother and infant to the hospital.
Lance Corporal Matt Southern with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 5:10 p.m. at the intersection of St. Andrews Road and Tram Road in Columbia.
The fire truck was traveling east on St. Andrews and the other vehicle, a Ford Taurus was traveling south on Tram Road when the two vehicles collided in the intersection. L/Cpl. Southern said a mother and infant were taken to
the hospital by Lexington County EMS. The extent of their injuries and their conditions are unknown.
The driver of the fire truck and all occupants inside were not injured. Irmo Fire Marshal Jeff Allen said the fire truck had lights and sirens activated as firefighters were responding to an emergency call on I-26 at mile marker 107
at the time of the crash.
Traffic in the area was affected by the wreck.
South Carolina Highway Patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the incident.
