A Clarendon man was injured after colliding with a car while on his bike.

Vermont State Police responded to a report of a collision involving a bicycle and a car at 10:15 a.m. Monday on Creek Road in Clarendon.

According to police, John Foster was traveling on his Lynskey Helix road bike south on Creek Road when he became light-headed and crossed the center line, drifting into a Honda Pilot as it was passing in the left lane.

The driver of the Honda, John Gauthier, 62, of West Rutland, stopped and was outside his vehicle waiting for police to arrive, police said.

Police said nearby neighbors provided Foster with assistance until police and ambulance arrived.

Foster, 68, was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center for injuries suffered to the left side of his body.

The Honda had a minor dent in the right fender while the bicycle had a separated front tire and scraped paint, according to police.
