San Ramon, CA : Driver suffers major injuries in pickup truck crash on I-680 on Tuesday morning, July 26, 2016
A man suffered major injuries Tuesday afternoon when a pickup truck crashed on Interstate 680, the California Highway Patrol said.
The truck ran off the road and hit a tree near the southbound Bollinger Canyon exit around 1:34 p.m., CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said. A medical helicopter came to the scene to airlift the driver to a hospital. No other cars were involved.
The man was driving a white Chevrolet pickup truck at 50 to 55 mph in the No. 4 lane when he veered to the right, drove off the shoulder and off the roadway into a tree, said CHP Officer Derek Reed.
The CHP issued a Sig Alert for severe traffic at 2:01 p.m. and at 2:26 p.m. all lanes were blocked to make room for the helicopter.
