Pittsboro, IN : Man charged with DUI after crashing car into Yurs Funeral Home in the 400 block of E. Main St. in St. Charles on Wednesday, 17th July 2019

ST. CHARLES – A Romeoville man was charged with DUI early Wednesday after crashing his car into the Yurs Funeral Home building in the 400 block of E. Main St. in St. Charles.

Juan Arreola, 28, of the 200 block of Traverse Court in Romeoville, was extricated from the car and was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in critical, but stable, condition, according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.

St. Charles police and fire departments responded to the scene at 1:04 a.m. According to the release, a 2019 Kia was traveling westbound on E. Main Street when it crossed over to the eastbound lanes and left the roadway. The vehicle hit the traffic light on the southeast corner of E. Main Street and S. 5th Avenue before continuing westbound through the intersection. The vehicle then struck a city of St. Charles electric box on the southwest corner of E. Main Street before coming to rest against the business building, the release stated. The building was not damaged, but the crash caused a short interruption in power in the area near the electrical box.

Arreola is charged with DUI, improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt.
