Bloomfield,CT : Teacher hit by car on may, Tuesday 16th 2017

The heartbroken father of a 31-year-old Cambridge school teacher who state police say was hit and killed by a car as she crossed Memorial Drive on Sunday is remembering his daughter as someone who “lived life to the fullest.”

Molly Doub, a teacher at the International School of Boston, succumbed to her injuries, state police spokesman David Procopio said yesterday.

“She was more than any father could possibly hope for,” Douglas Doub said. “I’ll miss not be able to see her and talk to her and go for walks with her. I have so many wonderful memories of her; it just hurts to know there won’t be any more.”

A preliminary investigation by state troopers indicates Doub tried to cross the westbound travel lane on Memorial Drive about 5 p.m. when she was struck by a 2009 BMW M5 driven by a 56-year-old Boston man, Procopio said.

Police have not yet released the name of the driver and Procopio said the ongoing probe by Troop H of the state police and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section “will determine whether criminal charges against the operator are warranted.”

Doub was just wrapping up her second year teaching math at the International School, where she was also an adviser.

“When I talked to her a few weeks ago,” her father said, “she was particularly excited to tell me she had a student who she thought might be smarter than she was.”

Doub earned bachelor’s degrees in both math and history and a master’s degree in the latter, all from the University of Connecticut. She previously taught math at Bristol Eastern High School in Bristol, Conn., and at the Metropolitan Learning Center in Bloomfield, Conn.

Douglas Doub said from the time she was 6 months old, he would read to his daughter every day. Every time a new Harry Potter book was released at midnight, he said she’d be finished with it by the next morning. She was also an avid runner and loved to travel and cook, her father said.

“She lived life to the fullest,” he said. “I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
