HOUSTON, TX : Woman who police say admitted to drinking before crash that injured DPS on Wednesday, 7th September 2016
A woman charged with intoxication assault in a crash that injured a state trooper appeared in court Wednesday.
Judge Marc Carter ordered Tuwanna Moore, 31, not to drink or drive while out on bond. She'll wear a monitor 24 hours a day to detect alcohol in her system.Harris County Assistant District Attorney Alison Baimbridge said witnesses told investigators Moore was weaving from left to right on the freeway early Monday morning.
“The defendant was seen by multiple witnesses operating her vehicle in a reckless fashion driving at speeds of over a 100 miles an hour, then slowing very quickly to speeds under the speed limit,” said Baimbridge.

Baimbridge said Moore then hit Trooper Chad Blackburn's patrol car on the Gulf Freeway near NASA Road One. Blackburn was parked on the shoulder with his headlights and taillights on.
Blackburn is a 10-year veteran of DPS, working in the Webster office. He is a husband and father.
The prosecutor said Moore was combative at the scene but admitted to drinking and driving and had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit.“She’s (Moore) an educated woman who works for NASA so this is very traumatic for her, as well. Of course, she understands that it’s more traumatic for his (Blackburn) family and so she’s very remorseful, very upset about that,” said defense attorney Tony Wadhawan.
