Largo, FL : Vehicle-pedestrian crash claims two lives in Largo on Saturday night, October 4, 2014

Two Bay area residents died Saturday night from injuries sustained in a vehicle-pedestrian crash along 66th St. North in Largo. The incident occurred at 7:42 pm near the intersection of 126th Ave. North. According to a Florida Highway Patrol report Lonnie Ray Baumbach was traveling north in the center lane approaching the intersection when the pair darted out in front of his 1999 Isuzu Trooper. The report states the 65-year-old Largo resident had the right of way as the light was green. Both pedestrians were hit by the front end of Baumbach's vehicle. The 55-year-old Clearwater woman and the 50-year-old Pinellas Park man were pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Investigators say the pair attempted to cross the roadway without having the right of way. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
