Chelmsford ,MA :72- Years old Bioston Wheelchair Man struck by pickup truck and killed while crossing the street on Saturday afternoon ,September 5th 2015

Police say a man in a wheelchair was struck by a pickup truck and killed while crossing the street in Chelmsford.

Police Chief James Spinney says the 72-year-old from Boston was visiting family in Chelmsford when the accident happened Saturday afternoon. The victim, whose name wasn't immediately released, died at a hospital.

Spinney say it appears the man was using the crosswalk when he was struck, but it's not known if he had a light indicating it was safe to cross.

Police say the driver of the pickup a truck, a 45-year-old man from Hudson, New Hampshire, is cooperating in the investigation.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected. No charges have been filed.
